Using Your Time Effectively

 

There is a huge difference between being busy and being efficient. When we have our business or we work on a commission basis we are paid for the results. It can take us a short time or many hours to get the same results. The key is to achieve the results in the shortest time.

Years ago, when I worked in insurance, when people were coming to interview for agents positions they asked me a question: How can you work on commission knowing that your income can vary? I had the same answer every time. When you work on salary, the biggest thing is knowing how much you are going to get paid as it depends on someone else. When you work on commission you decide how much YOU want to earn. You decide how much you are worth!

It takes a huge adjustment when we go from 9-5 job to having our own business or working on commission. Very quickly we need to realize that we are paid for the results. We can be busy, but the question is: Are we productive? Are we using our time effectively? We need to put in our mind that when we work - we work. Other things can be done later. We need to put the right actions in place in order to make our career successful and profitable. But we also need to have the right mindset. We need to expect that our actions produce results. We need to show potential clients how passionate we are about our profession. When we do that we find out that we get more clients in a shorter period of time.

It is very important that we have fun with what you do. When we have fun we achieve more in a shorter period of time.

I also found out that when I changed multitasking into doing one thing at the time I did everything much faster. I did everything from 1/3 to half the time comparing to multitasking.

So, have fun making your own income. When you work on a commission basis or you have your own business you can make more money than anyone can pay you. You just need to use the time wisely. As a result you will achieve more in a shorter period of time and you will have lots of time left for your family.
