” post=3197]When I first moved to this coast I took a job selling radio advertising. I did not know anything about radio or selling. My clients could get local advertising for about half the cost of the larger company I worked for. At that time small towns did not like change and they were comefortible the way things were. I was organized and extremely disciplined. But it did not sell enough advertising. I worked 14 hour days, bearly making a living, and was not happy.
One day my hard work payed off. I was promoting a small town local festavel. I whent to all my clients with a proposal to advertise the festavel and add to the end “this add was sponsored by”…. Everyone wanted to help the festavle be a success. I walked out with contracts and checks. (no one payed in advance before)
That led my boss to change my job. They were changing the name and logo of the station. My challenge was to trade advertising for what the station needed. My commission would be 10% of of the trade. My first assignment was to get champaign splits and put the new logo on them I added hand made fancy bows in the new logo colors. I had so much fun. And wound up with 8 cases of champaign splits. I loved negotiating. My clients got the advertising for less money because they purchased the items at a lower cost to them. If we needed services it was even easier. I could do whatever it took to make things happen.
Just give me a challenge and let me loose to be creative and make people, happy and successful.
My commissions helped us build a home with considerable upgrades, furnish it, furnish my husbands office and provide equipment and all office supplies. And that was just the beginning because what I learned helped me at work and in helping the community.
My horrible job that had a limit of 50 clients developed into a passion with over 500 clients. Having a great time and making a difference in the lives of many. I love my life
