It is very important how we set goals. The most important is that they HAVE to be our goals. Something we are passionate and excited about. The more enthusiastic we are about our goals the faster and easier we are going to achieve them. One of my clients asked me: How do I get excited about my goal? I answered: Easy, change your goal.
It is extremely important to remember that if we want to take our lives to a completely new level, we need to set our goals beyond what we have done before. My client who is a Financial Advisor and who brought in around $150,000 to $200,000 of new business a month wanted to increase her business. Her dream was to bring in $600,000 of new business a month. In a short period of time, she passed her goal and she brought in $700,000 of new business in a month. She updated her goal to $1ML a month. She accomplished it the following month. Now, she changed her goal to $2ML of new business a month. It is very important that as we keep growing, our goals need to grow with us.
If we want to go beyond what we would call “possible” we need to set goals that reflect it. Think about it for a moment. How realistic was it for a carriage to go by itself? And yet we all drive cars. How realistic was it for thousands of tons of metal to fly through the air? We use planes as a normal means of transportation. How realistic was it to talk to another person on the other side of globe and see that person? It was a fantasy from Sci-fi movies that now we live every day. If we can imagine we can have it. The key is to set a goal that reflects it. My client adopted a little girl who was mentally undeveloped. As the child became an adult, my client’s dream was for her to have a paying job. The daughter is in her 20’s and wanted a job very much, but she was only able to get odd tasks to do a few hours here and there. She needed a different mental capacity to get a paying job. My client set himself a goal that she had a paying job. He pictured in his mind over and over that she was capable of having a job and that she already had it. He just told me that her daughter got a first paying job in her life!!! They are both so excited about it!
So, what kind of goal have you set for yourself? How do you want your life to be? If you want to take your life beyond what you have, you need to set goals on a completely new level. Make the Universe your playground!!!!
